Cementitious systems

Cementitious systems form the backbone of many industrial flooring projects. Fast-track turnaround on large areas can be accommodated using these services and disciplines in combination with rapid hardening and drying products.

This section encompasses the installation of the structural concrete right the way through to the introduction of falls for drainage or transition purposes. The group also includes pumpable, fluid applied systems for levelling and smoothing purposes which can transform worn and uneven areas. All of these systems can be laid as a wearing surface in their own right or as an underlayment suitable for overlaying with a predetermined floor covering.

Flo-Dek (UK) Ltd are one of a few UK approved installers for the Monile®, polymer modified system developed in 1959 specifically for the meat industry.

Multi-Layered Flooring

These systems comprise of multi-layers of floor coatings or flow applied flooring with intermediate aggregate dressings. They are also known as ‘sandwich’ systems and typically have a thickness of 2mm and upward depending on the chosen specification.

Multi-layered floor products can be epoxy, polyurethane or methyl methacrylate (MMA) based systems and their intended use is medium to heavy duty.

The slip resistance of these systems is good but is dependant on the profile of the aggregate dressing. This feature can be adjusted according to the size of the aggregate and/or the number of seal or top coats.

Resin Flooring Coatings

These systems are applied in two or more coats and typically have a thickness of 150μm (FeRFA Type 1) through to 1000μm (FeRFA Type 3). The application method for these systems is brush, roller, squeegee or spray.

Resin floor coating products can be epoxy, polyurethane, acrylic or methyl methacrylate (MMA) based systems and their intended use is light to medium duty. They are generally considered to be thin film systems and will therefore follow any undulations in the floor substrate. The slip resistance of these systems can be improved with the use of matt/silk grades or by incorporating a light aggregate scatter or slip resistant medium.
